They are the most popular beds all over the world for kids’ room, yet sometimes bunk beds can cause fatal injuries. There are about 36,000 injury cases every year treated and the victims are mostly kids. Well, there are reasons for the unfortunate incidents, but they can be easily avoided by following these steps.


  • Do not buy bunk beds for toddlers, they are too young and can trip over and fall while climbing the upper bunk.
  • Check the height of the bed, too high or even too low can cause imbalance and can lead to injuries and falls.
  • Place a Carpet in the room, especially below the bed. This will reduce the impact of the fall as the carpet will pad the floor.
  • Placing a doormat near the stair of bunk beds reduces the chance of slipping to a great extent.
  • Make rules regarding the bed use, such as not jumping directly from the top bunk, not pulling or pushing while playing, not to hang suspensions such as ropes, belts, and strings and pulling them in haste can topple the bed.

Look for the strong base in bunk beds as even if you make rules, kids will break them and indulge in play. Also, regularly check for joints, hinges, and other attachments in the beds to avoid accidents.
